Average people see problems, extraordinary people recognize problems and subsequently determine plausible solutions that become pathways to triumph for them and those around them. It has been a long road.... It has been a long road to be able to consistently look at a student take in all of the negative they are exuding in their moment of glorious belligerence and ignorance and see them for their insecurities and cries for help. I know that these students need something, they need an educator to not view them as a problem, but as a challenge to action. Many issues arise as I have embarked on the last part of this year in education(not the first and sure to not be the last). What does this student see pain, anger, fear and failure? Does this student know the look, smell, feel, and or sound of success. Or is success such a distant thought that there is no real possibility for socially accepted success for the student so therefore why try, care, do, or accomplish? Why do students feel like they can't do things why is this word can't so prevalent in our students language, because there are not enough example of they can. There must be a reason for students holding these views so we must not be so rash to dismiss them, these ideas must be internalized processed and reflected on in order to provide students with real solutions to gaining a less pessimistic view of the world.

True. We as educators must have high expectations for students. Students feed off of our emotions and believe. They know if we care and believe in them. Unfortunately, their are many educators who have low self-esteems making it hard for them to motivate their students when they second guess their own abilities. Staff development on teacher and student self-efficacy is definitely needed to improve both teacher and student self-efficacy. It may not be a fix all but it is a start.
